Aleksandra Godlewska is a designer and artist working across public space, real estate, brands and culture. Her practice is about making room for art in architecture and inviting brands to become part of culture. Combining a strategic design approach with an artistic mindset, she creates public sculptures, murals, site-specific installations and place-identity projects, mainly in Gdynia, Gdańsk and across Pomerania.

Biography

My creative practice combines a strategic design approach with an artistic mindset.

But for me, design isn’t about solving problems anymore. In a world where comfort has become a source of collective numbness, we seem more desperate than ever just to feel something. Something that reminds us what it means to feel alive. So instead of improving user experience, I’m here to stir things up.

When it comes to art, my approach goes beyond aesthetics. There’s already so much beauty in the world, yet somehow it doesn’t seem to move us anymore. So I’m not here to decorate, but to find little reasons to fall in love with the world all over again. Even if just for a moment.

Which brings me to creativity itself. I still believe there’s so much more to creating than generating content and fighting for attention, especially when nobody seems to be paying it anymore. So how do we create for an audience that’s constantly overstimulated, yet no longer impressed?

Well, we can’t really reverse-engineer falling in love or promise to reconstruct any particular feeling. But what we can do is design the conditions and create opportunities for something genuine to happen.
